How Greek On The Docks became reality
It all started with Georgios Karayiannis, his brother, Yiannis & Athina Kalaitzi (wife of Georgios).
Georgios Karayiannis, even though studied at university with a degree of physical education in sports has always been passionate about owning his own bar and restaurant. He owned his first business at the age of only 24, he was still at university at the time. The business was a popular café bar in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece.
He has worked in the food service for over 30 years. He started and owned various businesses. In 2000 he established restaurant Treffpunkt in Germany which he manages very successfully with his wife Athina.
Athina Kalaitzi has a love and passion of cooking from a very young age. She decided to make her passion her profession so she studied and got a degree in tourism and hospitality. She has worked at various leading hotels in Greece and helped Georgios with the building and managing the business through the years.
Yiannis Karayiannis has worked in the food industry since 1994. He had a leading role in the start up of a restaurant of the biggest chain in Greece, Roma Pizza, and he was involved in all aspects of the business up to Restaurant manager at the age of 20.
Yiannis then moved to Germany with his wife to help create Restaurant Treffpunkt, where he was chef and manager for 4 years. Yiannis then moved to Gloucester where he carefully planned their next move in the culinary world.
A little after, Greek On The Docks was born, out of the passion and knowledge of the “hungry” trio. A new modern Greek / Mediterranean restaurant & bar located in an exceptional location, the historic Gloucester Docks.
